On July 29, 2011, the sequel's name was revealed to be G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The movie was originally thought to be titled G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes, which was later denied by screenwriter Rhett Reese. UK X Factor winner Shayne Ward, actors Danny Arroyo, Erryn Arkin and former WWE Wrestler Shad Gaspard have auditioned for new roles for the sequel. Joseph Gordon-Levitt confirmed in an interview that he will not be returning as "The Commander" in the sequel. On June 5, 2011, actor Stephen Martines was cast as Cross-Country. On June 6, 2011, actor Dwayne Johnson was cast as Roadblock. Elodie Yung is in talks to join the cast in the film as Jinx. On June 27, 2011 actor D.J. Cotrona and rapper Rza were cast as Flint and Blind Master. On July 1, 2011, Adrianne Palicki was confirmed for the lead female role of Lady Jaye. It was also announced on July 8 that Irish actor Ray Stevenson would portray the villain Firefly in the film. Joseph Mazzello will play Mouse. Bruce Willis is Joe Colton. The movie is finally going to release in 29 June, 2012.
Plot
Walker has been described as the wise cracker and loves to make fun of the other guy’s mom. Robyn is a female gun-lover and a weapon expert, who always boasts about her ultra-high-tech rifle and Brock, is a sentimental guy, who listens to Cypress Hill on his boombox, looking at the photos of his 8-year-old twin daughters.
These three Joes, will be sent to take refuge with the old neighbors of Brock, where they meet tattooed Stacks, who is like a brother to Brock and promises him to help in any possible way. He also suggests them to hide in his old recording center.
The team will also have a new friend, Mouse, played by Joseph Mazello, a Southern boy, who has no experience of combats, but unexpectedly wins at an initiation test, as he pulls a hand grenade out of a waterless big pool with the teeth.
A new villain has also been unveiled, by the plot called Lecter, who teams up with Zartan, the master of disguise, who replaces the US President in “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’, in order to infiltrate the White House. He also has the ability to develop all the high-tech weapons. Lecter along with his friend Smith and Jones hold a US senator as a prisoner and interrogate him.
