The Art of Getting By is a 2011 romantic comedy film starring Freddie Highmore, Emma Roberts, Alicia Silverstone and Rita Wilson. It is the first feature by writer-director Gavin Wiesen. The film premiered under the title Homework at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

Plot

The film centers around high school student George (Freddie Highmore) who has a bad attitude towards homework. He forms an unexpected friendship with Sally (Emma Roberts), the girl he has a crush on. Rita Wilson and Sam Robards appear as his mother and stepfather respectively, while Michael Angarano plays a high school graduate.
